Fadiouth

A trip to an island made of shells that people have been layering together for centuries. In Senegal there are a whole series of such islands. However, this is the largest and the only inhabited one. All these islands together are one of the few UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The trip is a pleasant walk in the lagoon and provides an interesting insight into the local, strongly Christian community.

Saloum.

Saloum delta is one of Senegal’s national parks and one of the UNESCO heritage sites. It is made up of up to two hundreds islands overgrown with mangroves full of biodiversity, especially birds. On the way to the delta, we will visit the largest and oldest Senegalese Baobab and pass through a palm grove near the Yayeme village. And then we will take a boat trip, during which we will see some of the many species of birds that live there. The cruise will take us to the island, where we will have lunch at a restaurant and visit an indigenous village.

Village market

Village markets are among the most interesting places to visit on the small coast. These markets are usually held once a week and are intended for villagers who come from many small neighbouring villages, usually on horse-drawn carriages. Here you can see both the produce they sell and the products they buy. You will find amng others very interesting stalls with traditional medicine and, most importantly, a large animal market.

Dakar/Goree

When visiting the capital, you will experience the hustle and bustle of a developing metropolis. You will also see the local port from which we take boat to the important UNESCO monument, the slave island of Goree. This place with a turbulent history today offers a colorful walk with nice views, picturesque colonial architecture, which reminds us in what a beautiful environment and with what pretense it was possible to carry out these brutal and cruel activity of our past. There are also many local artists on the island and it is possible to buy souvenirs and art objects here. Next, we will visit the oldest district of Dakar-Plateau, the picturesque west coast with the westernmost point of Africa, and the African Renaissance monument, located on the Hill and offering a nice view of the entire city.
